Study Information

Summary / Purpose

To look at how often people should have follow-up colonoscopy after having one or two small benign polyps found and removed on a prior exam. In this study, participants will be randomly assigned to have repeat colonoscopy either at 5 and 10 years or at just 10 years after their initial polyp removal. The goal of the study is to better understand whether less frequent surveillance colonoscopy is as effective for preventing cancer while minimizing unnecessary procedures and risks.

Who Can Participate

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Adults 45-69 years of age
  • Had a complete colonoscopy within the past four years showing one or two small, low-risk colon polyps that were fully removed, with no advanced or high-grade features
