MyChart FAQ
Anyone age 13 or older who receives care from Renown Health or one of our affiliated health systems is eligible to sign up for MyChart.
Yes. MyChart is a secure online account that protects your health information. Access is limited to verified users with a unique username and password, and two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security.
If you’re not receiving your 2FA code by text, it’s possible you were unsubscribed from Renown messages. To re-subscribe, text SIGNUP to 86181, wait a few moments, and try logging in again.
With MyChart at Renown Health, you can schedule most primary care appointments, including family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine, with providers you’ve seen before within the last 3 years.
Some specialty services—like mammograms, lab visits, and cardiology—are also available for new and returning patients.
Visit our Schedule an Appointment Webpage to book online or for more information.
If you are not receiving emails or texts, please verify that we have your current email address or cell phone number on file.
To verify your preferred contact information, go to Menu > Settings. You can also verify you have email/text notifications enabled on this page. You may also want to check your personal email/text settings to make sure MyChart emails are not being sent to spam.
If this doesn’t resolve your issue call 775-982-2781 for assistance.
To update your personal information online, such as phone number and address, go to the Menu and under Settings select Personal Information.
Yes, this is called proxy access.
To share your health information or request access to another person’s MyChart account, complete the MyChart Proxy Consent Form and submit it using one of the following methods:
- Email: RCC.CustomerService@renown.org
- Fax: 775-982-7701.
Access to a child’s health information in MyChart depends on the child’s age. Proxy access is automatically discontinued when the child turns 18 years old.
When a child turns 12, MyChart automatically limits or removes parental proxy access. This is required by federal and state privacy laws that protect a minor’s right to confidential care. These laws allow patients age 12 and older to receive certain types of care—such as contraception, substance-use support, and testing or treatment for sexually transmitted infections—without parental involvement (45 CFR 164.502(g)(3)(i) and NRS 129).
Because MyChart cannot filter all sensitive information separately, we must restrict parental access once a child reaches age 12.
Can proxy access be reinstated?
Yes. Limited proxy access may be restored with the minor’s permission. To request this, please call 775-982-2781 while your child is present.
Please note: For full access (including lab results), your child would need to create their own MyChart account.
What parents can still do:
Parents may continue to contact their child’s care team or the Medical Records department for general health questions.
Before access changes, we recommend downloading and saving:
- Medical Summary
- Current Immunization Letter
- Allergies, Health History, and Medications
Need help or believe the change was made in error?
Please contact your healthcare provider or reach out to Renown Health MyChart Customer Service at 775-982-2781.
