Renown Health and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) are partnering on a shared vision of a healthy Nevada. Together, we are enhancing the health of our community, region and state through expanded clinical care, research and medical education.
Since our relationship was formalized in 2021, Renown and UNR Med have established Nevada’s first academic health system to advance our mission of supporting the health and healthcare of the people in communities we serve.
The partnership is helping train Nevada’s future doctors and healthcare professionals who cover a wide spectrum of medical specialties, from family medicine and pediatrics to geriatric specialty care and obstetrics and gynecology among other health services.
Five Years of Impact
Since launching our 50-year affiliation in 2021, Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine have strengthened healthcare across northern Nevada through expanded physician training, nationally recognized clinical expertise, innovative research and improved access to care.
- Recruited nationally recognized physicians, specialists and educators to strengthen care across northern Nevada.
- Expanded graduate medical education with new residency and fellowship programs to help address Nevada's physician shortage.
- Increased access to clinical research and innovative treatments through a growing academic health system.

Celebrating Five Years of Nevada's First and Only Integrated Academic Health System: Renown Health and UNR Med Mark Historic Affiliation Milestone
Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) are celebrating the first five years of a historic 50-year affiliation agreement that created the state’s first and only integrated academic health system. Formalized in June 2021, the affiliation has strengthened healthcare delivery, expanded medical education, advanced clinical research and bolstered workforce development throughout northern Nevada.
