Renown Gives Back to Create Stronger Communities

In addition to our commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of the region, Renown Health gives back to communities by contributing funds, services, facilities and the time and expertise of physicians, clinicians and all employees. These benefits to the community flow from Renown Health as a whole and from the individual hospitals, facilities and departments that make up our health network.

Renown Health’s mission is to make a genuine difference in the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve. As such, we seek to support the efforts of community organizations that relate to the mission, values, vision, and community benefit objectives of our health care system.

100% of our income is reinvested in our community.

Renown Health is the only locally owned, not-for-profit, charitable healthcare network in Reno. Being not-for-profit, or a 501 © 3 organization means that all our income stays here - and is reinvested in programs, people and equipment to improve the health of our community. In fact, our name - Renown - besides being our aspiration for care, means "Reno's Own.” Community is at the center of our mission, and we embrace our commitment to build a sustainable health care system to continue to make a genuine difference in creating a healthier Nevada for all of us.

The value to a nonprofit hospital of being granted 501(c) (3) status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) includes both the direct benefits of being exempt from various federal, state, and local taxes and the indirect benefits of receiving charitable donations and issuing tax-exempt bonds.

Our Community Benefit Mission

Our Community Benefit mission is to reduce health disparities, promote community wellness and improve access to care for vulnerable populations. This includes offering free and discounted care to those unable to afford healthcare, and partnerships with others to address health and well-being. In partnership with many community-based organizations, area schools, human and social service agencies, and government and business leaders, Renown supports many educational, public health outreach, and community development initiatives throughout Nevada.
