Renown Health Foundation is excited to share the news of the official start of construction on Sophie’s Place, scheduled to open its doors in summer 2024. This remarkable music therapy room, made possible by the incredible generosity of our donors, is exclusively designed for pediatric patients. It will provide a haven for children and their families to experience the healing power of music and engage in the arts.

About Sophie's Place

Sophie's Place is a music therapy room inspired by the life of Sophie Barton, a young singer and songwriter who left us too soon, and her loving family. Established in her memory, these dedicated spaces in children's hospitals aim to bring comfort and peace to young patients.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors whose support has made Sophie's Place at Renown Children’s Hospital possible.

Steve Young and Forever Young Foundation

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Steve Young, former NFL quarterback and distinguished philanthropist. As a dear friend of the Barton family, his pivotal role in bringing Sophie's Place to Renown has been paramount. Through his foundation, Forever Young Foundation, Steve has played a vital role in selecting hospitals nationwide for Sophie's Place installations.

Music and Miracles Fundraiser

The 2022 Music and Miracles Fundraiser by Renown Health Foundation was a resounding success, raising $1.2 million for Sophie's Place. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support from all the donors and participants who came together to make a difference.

The event featured a memorable concert by The Beach Boys in Reno, with all proceeds dedicated to Sophie's Place. Our deepest gratitude goes to Mike Love, one of The Beach Boys' founders, and Jacqueline Love for their extraordinary generosity. Their commitment was instrumental in our success, leaving a lasting impact on our community.
