Nurses choose Renown Health for its People First culture, benefits that support life inside and outside of work and clear paths for career growth. As Nevada's only comprehensive, not-for-profit academic health system, Renown invests in the people who care for our northern Nevada community. Here's what that looks like for you, whether you are a nursing student, new graduate or experienced registered nurse.
What makes Renown a great place for nurses?
It starts with our people. In 2026, Becker's Healthcare named Renown one of the nation's Top Places to Work in Healthcare, and Renown was also recognized as a Best Place for Working Parents® in 2024 and 2026.
For nurses, that culture is part of every shift. "One of the things that we say in our organization and that we truly believe in is investing in our people first," said Jenn Fleiner, Chief Nursing Officer at Renown South Meadows Medical Center.
You will also see a wide range of specialties. Renown is home to northern Nevada's only Level II adult and pediatric trauma centers and the region's only dedicated children's hospital. Renown also partners with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Orvis School of Nursing to train the next generation of caregivers.
What benefits does Renown offer nurses?
Renown's Total Rewards benefits are designed for life's moments, big and small. Eligible team members can access these benefits and much more:
- Health coverage: Medical, pharmacy and vision coverage, with dental coverage also available.
- Retirement savings: Plan for your future with Renown's 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with employer match.
- Time away from work: Annual and sick leave support time to rest and manage personal needs, subject to eligibility and Renown's leave policies.
- Education support: Advance your nursing education with tuition reimbursement of up to $5,250 annually. Student loan repayment and certification reimbursement are also available, subject to program eligibility and limits.
- Flexible work environment: Designed to support work-life balance with flexible scheduling and compressed work opportunities for eligible positions.
- Family support: Explore childcare through Renown's Child Care Center, subject to availability.
- Additional protection: Coverage options include life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, critical illness and short- and long-term disability benefits.
- Wellbeing support: Connect with resources, support and guidance for you and your family through Renown's employee assistance program.
- Community connection: Give back with 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually and donation matching for qualified non-profits.
For registered nurses at Renown, benefits are about more than coverage. "Nurses also value resources that support work-life balance and personal wellness, because we know caring for caregivers is essential," said Allie Saunders, Chief Nursing Officer at Renown Regional Medical Center.
Renown nursing leaders use these benefits, too. Fleiner started her Renown career as a pediatric nurse. She used Renown's tuition reimbursement program to earn her master's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno while she was a newer nurse and a new mom. "I never thought I would continue my degree, but I did 10 years after being a nurse," Fleiner said. "It was great to have that resource to help us financially during that time."

How does Renown help nurses grow their careers?
Wherever you are in your career, there's a next step here:
- Nursing students: The RN Apprenticeship lets students in the final semester of a northern Nevada pre-licensure program practice their skills at Renown. Selected Orvis School of Nursing students can receive full-ride scholarship support through the Gerald "Jerry" Smith Academic-Practice Partnership, with a guaranteed nursing position at Renown after graduation and licensure, subject to program requirements.
- New graduates: The year-long Graduate Nurse Residency pairs new RNs with a dedicated preceptor and a curriculum tailored to their unit.
- Experienced RNs: The RN Critical Care Fellowship opens the door to the ICU and ED, and Surgical University prepares nurses for the operating room.
- Eligible nurses: The Professional Advancement for Clinical Excellence (PACE) program recognizes and rewards growing clinical expertise, and continuing education (CEU) reimbursement helps you maintain your license and earn specialty certifications.
Nurses can also explore opportunities to grow into charge nurse, educator and nursing leadership roles.
Why live and work in Reno-Tahoe?
Nevada has no state income tax, so you keep more of what you earn. Lake Tahoe is about 45 minutes from Reno, and with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, there's always a reason to get outside.
