Graduate Nurse Residency
Renown Health Graduate Residency Program
Mission Statement: “Develop and engage new nurses to provide quality care to our community while sustaining a positive, healthy work-life balance.”
Our program is designed to support newly licensed Registered Nurses (RNs), as well as other interdisciplinary teams, as they embark on their professional journey with Renown Health. This year-long program provides an individualized orientation with dedicated preceptors, specialty training, and a structured curriculum tailored to your unit—medical/surgical, progressive care, critical care, or specialty modules.

Our New Graduate Nurses are supported by their leaders, educators, and preceptors. You will have routine touchpoints with leaders and educators throughout your orientation period. Your preceptor is with you throughout each shift to guide and evaluate your practice and help you integrate into the team. In addition to your preceptor, throughout this program, you will experience classes with expert guidance and peer support to help you transition into the profession of nursing.

Program Components
Since 2018, the Renown Health Graduate Nurse Residency Program has supported newly licensed RNs as they transition to practice. The program consists of a comprehensive evidence-based clinical orientation in addition to nursing professional development transition to practice curriculum. Since 2020, the program has supported the training and enculturation of over 1,100 new graduate nurses.
The following must be completed or obtained a new employee’s start date (not required at time of application):
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
- An active Nevada RN license (interim permits are not accepted).
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- No prior Registered Nurse experience.
- Renown Health Nurse Apprenticeship/clinical rotation experience.
Nurse residents are hired onto a specific unit; we hire into Medical-Surgical, Progressive Care, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, and various specialty units. The units accepting New Grads varies each cohort. If you are selected to move forward to an interview, you will be sent a list of available units for you to review and select where you would like to interview.
