When patients are facing a serious infection, the path forward is not always simple. Treatment can require close monitoring, specialized expertise and a care team that knows how to navigate complex medical conditions with both precision and compassion. At Renown Health, the Infectious Disease department provides that level of support every day. Our Infectious Disease team members (or “ID team” for short) help patients manage challenging diagnoses while working alongside providers across Renown to coordinate the best possible care. Their work may happen largely behind the scenes, but the impact is deeply felt by patients, families and care teams throughout our health system.

Alejandro’s career didn’t begin in healthcare. Originally from Elko, Nev., he moved to Reno on a scholarship to study geology but quickly realized it wasn't the right path.

Care doesn’t always end at discharge. For many patients, the most important progress begins after they return home. That’s exactly where Renown Health’s Home Health department plays a vital role. Serving communities across northern Nevada, from up north in Red Rock and Spanish Springs to down south in Carson City, our Home Health professionals are on the frontlines of ensuring patients transition safely from hospital to home. The team provides a wide variety of expert health services, all coordinated to reduce readmissions, improve care outcomes and help patients regain a level of independence.
