Study Information

Summary / Purpose

The purpose of this study is to test a physical activity program to meet the unique needs of Hispanic or Latino/a adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. This physical activity program will take into account cultural and language preferences.

Who Can Participate

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Children and Adults 15 - 21 years of age
  • First diagnosis of malignant neoplasm
  • Must have completed all chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy in the last 3-36 months
  • Self-report less than 420 minutes of physical activity per week
  • Self-Identify as Hispanic/Latino

What's Involved

Participation in the study will include:
  • Random assignment to one of two physical activity programs: wearing a Fitbit physical activity tracker only, or wearing a Fitbit plus additional support
  • Wearing a Fitbit physical activity tracker daily to measure your activity levels
  • For participants in the additional support group:
    • Weekly goal-setting sessions with personalized physical activity goals
    • Text messages and reminders
    • Viewing and posting in a private social media peer support group
    • Earning badges for your activity
    • Completing questionnaires, including questions about your quality of life
    • Completing an interview
