As Nevada's only not-for-profit academic health system, Renown is committed to saving lives, nurturing minds and caring for all people. Across the health system, team members contribute to that mission in different ways, from caring directly for patients to supporting the teams and operations that make that care possible.

The launch commercial, Hand in Hand, features employees from across Renown and highlights the different ways they contribute to our patients, our teams and our communities. Their roles may be different, but their stories show what’s possible when people work together toward a shared goal.

For Shyetta, Lead Drug Testing Coordinator in Occupational Health, participating in the commercial was an opportunity to highlight the people who make Renown a special place to work.

"What inspired me was showing the diversity of Renown and telling a great story of different backgrounds and cultures coming together for a great cause," she said.

Shyetta oversees drug and alcohol testing for Occupational Health and several Renown Urgent Care locations. She calibrates testing equipment, reviews collections, coordinates work-related injury testing for Renown's emergency departments and keeps clinics stocked. Every two weeks, she also certifies newly hired medical assistants to perform drug and alcohol testing, a responsibility that helped her discover a passion for teaching and training.

"We are all different, but when we come together as one to assist and make a difference, it can inspire and uplift everyone."

Shyetta is especially proud that Renown gave her the opportunity to prove herself, continue learning and help others grow. Today, that means not only supporting employees through her day-to-day work, but also helping prepare new team members for success.

Making new possibilities a reality

For Dr. Danilo Vitorovic, Division Chief of Neurology, the campaign was an opportunity to highlight the advanced neurological care being delivered in northern Nevada.

Dr. Vitorovic cares for patients in the clinic and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, where the team studies seizures and evaluates whether epilepsy surgery may be an option. As a physician leader, he also supports team members, helps guide clinical operations and works with the division to shape the short- and long-term future of neurological care at Renown. He viewed participating in the commercial as an opportunity to showcase the care, education and research happening across the organization.

One moment stands out in particular.

In May 2026, Renown completed its first epilepsy surgery case, a milestone that allowed a Nevada patient to receive this specialized treatment without leaving the state.

For Dr. Vitorovic, that milestone represents the meaning behind "We Can and Will. Together." It also reflects what he values most about his role: working with his team to build a long-term vision for neurological care while expanding what is possible for patients close to home.

By bringing together physicians, nurses, specialists and support teams, Renown continues to expand access to advanced care for the communities it serves.

"It happened at Renown," Dr. Vitorovic proudly said.

Working together for every patient

Few understand the importance of teamwork better than Elyse, Operating Room Manager at Renown South Meadows Medical Center. During the few days that are typical, she supports operating room staff, coordinates patient care and surgical operations and works closely with physicians and other departments to help teams deliver safe, high-quality care.

Every day, she sees how many people contribute to a patient's care journey. Behind every procedure is a network of nurses, physicians, technicians, environmental services teams, support staff and countless others who work together to create the best possible experience for patients.

"There are so many departments and individuals behind the scenes who support what we do," Elyse said. "We truly cannot function without them."

One of Elyse's most meaningful experiences was helping open the operating room at Renown's Specialty Care Center. Bringing the space to life was especially rewarding because it expanded access to specialized breast cancer care and created more options for patients close to home. Seeing the operating room featured in the commercial reminded her of the many people whose dedication made it possible.

"None of us accomplish what we do alone," she said. "When we work together, communicate and support one another, we're able to accomplish things that we simply couldn't do individually."

One team, one mission

For Eric, Security Supervisor with Renown's Department of Public Safety, being part of the commercial was both an honor and a reminder of the role every employee plays in advancing Renown's mission.

Although his work differs from roles that provide direct patient care, Eric sees firsthand how every department contributes to the patient and employee experience. He supports officers as they respond to calls, coordinates with leaders on construction projects and new safety procedures and helps his shift stay prepared and connected. As an instructor and supervisor, he also coaches officers through one-on-one meetings, training and professional development.

The opportunity to participate inspired him to continue growing as a leader while supporting fellow team members and future healthcare professionals.

Eric also enjoys introducing new nurse graduates to the role of public safety and showing how security supports care teams. His work with Project SEARCH students and the Washoe County School District Explorer program is especially meaningful because it gives young people a broader view of the careers and departments that keep a health system running. Through these opportunities, he encourages others while strengthening the teams around him.

To Eric, the message of the campaign is straightforward

“We're all in this together. Same team, same struggles, same joys, same sorrows, same defeats, same victories.”

His role may look different from those providing care at the bedside, but it contributes to the same goal: creating an environment where employees can do their jobs and patients can receive the care they need.
