Breastfeeding is a skill that new moms and babies learn together. Booking a lactation appointment will help answer questions and address challenges. Our certified lactation consultants will help you reach your breastfeeding goals.

Follow-up visits are available. Please check with your insurance provider to determine if your visit is covered. A referral may be required.

Preparing for your appointment:

  • 👶Bring yourself and your baby! Baby’s presence helps us guide feeding and bonding during your consult.
  • 👖 Wear comfortable clothing. Choose something easy to nurse or pump in, so you can relax and focus on feeding.
  • Time the last feeding so baby is likely to be hungry shortly after you arrive.
  • 👥 Bring a support person — your partner, mom, sister or friend. They often help remember helpful info.
  • 🧴 Feeding concerns? Bring any pumped milk or whatever you’re feeding your baby, along with necessary supplies.
  • 🧷 Bringing a pump? If you plan to pump or it’s uncomfortable, bring your pump and kit. For hospital-grade pumps, bring only the accessories—we support Medela and Ameda.
  • 🌿 Relax. Give yourself credit for seeking help! We're here to support you with a personalized plan so you feel confident and empowered.
  • Plan for 60–75 minutes. With your permission, we’ll weigh your baby, observe a feeding, take a health history, and examine your baby’s mouth (and if needed, your breasts).
  • 🛠️ Hands-on support: We’ll problem solve together, try out helpful strategies, and practice new techniques.
  • 📝 Instructions recap: Verbal tips will be shared during the visit. Written instructions will be emailed within 24 hours.
