Position Purpose

The Legal Liaison serves as a link between the organization's clinical operations, risk management activities, and legal processes. The position facilitates communication and coordination among healthcare providers, patients, attorneys, courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities, and other external stakeholders to support Risk Management through the effective administration of legal and regulatory matters.

Nature and Scope

The Legal Liaison operates in a highly collaborative role that bridges healthcare, legal, and regulatory functions. The position coordinates the organization's response in legal and regulatory matters, including subpoenas, court orders, records requests, claims, investigations, and other legal proceedings. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, facilitating the preparation, filing, tracking, and management of legal documents and related correspondence. Collaborating closely with clinical staff, leadership, risk management personnel, and legal counsel, the Liaison gathers and communicates necessary information to support decision-making, ensure compliance, and protect organizational interests.

The role serves as a primary point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, including attorneys, law enforcement agencies, government regulators, partner organizations, patients, and operational and clinical staff, while ensuring that patient’s rights, confidentiality, and privacy requirements are maintained. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in handling sensitive matters, managing competing priorities, and facilitating the timely resolution of issues requiring coordination across clinical, operational, legal, and regulatory disciplines. Success in this role requires strong communication and relationship-management skills, sound judgment, and a thorough understanding of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, and legal processes.
