The incumbent evaluates, diagnoses, and treats hospitalized patients with oncologic conditions, including solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. This role combines the rapid decision-making and systems-based practice of hospital medicine with specialized oncology management, including chemotherapy-related toxicities, immunotherapy complications, and end-of-life care.
The physician participates in hospital governance, quality improvement, and clinical program development, particularly in rural or resource-limited environments where adaptability and collaboration are essential. Ongoing education, adherence to regulatory standards, and participation in interdisciplinary communication are required.
