Overview
Creating a birth plan can help you think through your preferences, communicate clearly with your care team, and feel more prepared for your labor and delivery experience. In this interactive workshop, we will walk through common options and decisions you may encounter during childbirth and postpartum care.
Topics include:
- What a birth plan is (and what it isn’t)
- Choices for comfort measures and pain management
- Options for labor positions, monitoring, and pushing
- Preferences for newborn care (delayed cord clamping, skin-to-skin, feeding, etc.)
- How to communicate your wishes with your healthcare team
- Flexibility: preparing for the unexpected
Participants will leave with a better understanding of their options and birth plan templates to get started on their personal plan.
