Position Purpose

Under the general direction of department leadership, the Data Analyst, will help set the direction, strategy, and deployment of data that is critical to the success of the business. Incumbent will perform requirements analysis, data integration, data modeling, design, and development to deliver short and long term data solutions for the Audit and Compliance Department. The analyst function is located under the department of Audit and Compliance.

Nature and Scope

The Data Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing data from a variety of internal and external sources and organizational software applications to identify potentially high risk coding, billing, and other business practices that may pose a compliance risk to Renown. The Analyst will also be responsible for developing and implementing continuous auditing and monitoring of specific criteria for risk based trending.

This position is authorized to have free and unrestricted access to organization functions, records, property, and personnel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. General understanding of healthcare compliance and guidelines for an effective compliance program

2. Ability to collect, analyze, trend and benchmark coding, billing, reimbursement and other data from conceptualization through presentation of data.

3. Demonstrated proficiency with analytical tools, knowledge of data analysis methodology and data mining.

4. Strong communication and collaboration skills to deliver high level of customer service.

5. Ability to provide and communicate insights regarding trends identified to divisions and departments for facilitation of improvement activities.

6. Producing and maintaining internal (department) and external (specific department/areas) reports to support department and system-wide projects.

7. Demonstrated experience and/or expertise using advanced Microsoft Excel and Access databases or equivalent.

8. Experience with various healthcare information systems and data files, creating file layouts, and transforming raw data into information.

9. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

10. Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage multiple and frequently changing priorities.

11. Familiar with mainframe programming languages and/or report writers.

12. Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

13. Ability to speak in front of small and large groups.

14. Ability to think critically and proactively.

15. Demonstrable commitment to ethical conduct and quality customer service to both internal and external customers.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business,Computer Science or related field; four years working experience in healthcare compliance will substitute for academic requirement.
Prefer thorough knowledge of physical database design and data structures, experience with data management platforms, proficiency in SQL, familiarity with HealthCatalyst Analytic Application
Experience:
2-4 years of health care experience required.
License(s):
None.
Certification(s):
CHC certification within two years of employment. CIA or CISA preferred. Prefer Data Analytic certification
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including using advanced Excel features and techniques, Access databases, Microsoft SQL
