Bright, tangy, and naturally sweetened, it’s a fresh (and easy) take on a holiday classic—perfect for adding a pop of color and citrusy zing to the table.

Heart-Healthy Cranberry Compote

Ingredients

• 6 cups cranberries (2 bags)

• 1 tbsp orange zest

• 1 cup fresh orange juice

• 1 ¼ cups sugar

• ¼ cup grenadine

• 1 tbsp red wine vinegar


Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5–7 minutes, until cranberries are soft and liquid has reduced to a thick syrup.
  3. Pour into a serving bowl. Let cool to room temperature.
  4. Cover and refrigerate.

Recipe Notes

This recipe contains a higher amount of added sugar, but it can be adapted for certain dietary needs by using healthier sweetener options such as stevia, monk fruit, allulose, erythritol, xylitol, honey, maple syrup or agave nectar.
