Preparing Graduates for Acute Care or Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist Positions

Renown’s Pharmacy Residency Program provides an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of pharmacy practice areas from ambulatory care to critical care. We currently have PGY1 Pharmacy, PGY2 Critical Care, PGY2 Infectious Diseases, PGY2 Emergency Medicine, and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Programs.

By joining the team at Renown Health, you will be working at northern Nevada’s largest healthcare system. Renowned for neurosciences, cardiac, surgical and emergency / trauma care, the hospital provides a complete range of healthcare for patients residing in northern Nevada and nearby areas of California, Idaho and Oregon.

Each resident will receive financial support and reimbursement to attend two professional meetings. It is required that the resident present at each professional meeting in which they seek reimbursement.

Applicant Qualifications

  • Registered for the ASHP Pharmacy Resident Matching Program
  • All applicants must provide proof of United States citizenship or legal immigration status, or proper work authorization (permanent or temporary); applicants are not eligible for VISA sponsorship
  • Graduate (or anticipated graduate) of an ACPE accredited degree program (or one in the process of pursuing accreditation) or have a FPBEC certificate from the NABP
  • Eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Nevada
  • PGY2 residency applicants must be on track to successfully complete or have successfully completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency or one in the ASHP-accreditation process or have an ASHP sanctioned PGY1 exemption

Proceso de postulación

  • As an ASHP-accredited program, all offers for positions are coordinated through the National Matching Service.
  • A letter of intent, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and an official pharmacy school transcript should be received by the Program Director via PhORCAS.
    • The pharmacy school transcript must have been updated within the last 6 months or include graduation status, if applicable
    • PGY2 applicants must have one letter of recommendation from their PGY1 Residency Program Director,
  • Candidates from a pass/fail pharmacy school are encouraged to also submit their class rank directly to the Residency Program Director or through PhORCAS.
  • One letter of recommendation for PGY2 applicants should be from the candidate’s PGY1 Residency Program Director.
  • An online Renown Health employment application at careers.renown.org should be completed after the match results have been published
