Led by Renown’s Bariatric Program Manager, this group connects you with peers and leaders so you can support, coach, encourage and lean on one another when you need it most. Whether you are facing post-surgery challenges or thinking about weight loss surgery and want to learn more about the client’s perspective or help reluctant family and friends better understand the process, attending this support group meeting can be invaluable. This time of the year can be especially challenging when trying to eat healthy. We’re please to have Emily, a registered dietician, as a special guest who will be providing some holiday eating tip. So please bring your questions and perhaps personal suggestions you’d like to share for healthy eating. This support group is an excellent resource where you’ll find people who share your health and wellness goals. We are devoted to people with everyday experiences, sharing their feelings in a safe environment, and developing relationships that can contribute to improved physical and emotional health. This class is for anyone who has undergone or is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. The class focuses on educating patients on lymphedema and ways to reduce the risk of its occurrence. During the class, we will review the basic anatomy of the lymphatic system and describe common procedures performed during the treatment course for breast cancer that affects lymphatics. Prevention strategies, including compression sleeves, will be reviewed in addition to the typical presentation of early lymphedema. Additionally, a brief description of Axillary Web Syndrome will be reviewed, and basic stretches/exercises to implement if cording is present.

Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Cancer Treatment Expert Renie Anderson, who is trained and certified at managing cancer treatment side effects. You can attend this workshop in person at Renown Regional or virtually via Zoom. This workshop teaches mind-body techniques to help reduce anxiety, feel calmer, visualize your treatment in a healing way and enhance healing through activities that will bring you relief. Este taller incluye: Helping patients feel more connected, reducing fight/flight response and assisting patients to feel more at ease. Learning how stress impacts our bodies and our role in taking responsibility as a partner in recovery. Una sesión de relajación de atención plena. This support group provides support, education, networking and resource materials to caregivers coping with a loved one diagnosed with cancer. *Please note that this is a support group designed for Caregivers only! Video-enabled attendance is available.  You can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smartphone, iPad, laptop, or webcam/desktop).  A virtual invitation with instructions on how to connect will be sent via email the Tuesday before the meeting.
